ANARK - PROSTEP Announce 3D PDF Partnership
Darmstadt, Germany and Boulder, CO - November 30, 2010: Anark Corporation, a leading provider of automated 3D CAD transformation and product visualization solutions, and PROSTEP AG, a leading PLM integration specialist in the area of product data integration, today announced a new partnership to collaborate on technology and customer implementation initiatives that leverage the Adobe 3D PDF format as an open and freely viewable data container for 3D design and manufacturing applications. This new partnership will provide customers with best-of breed CAD/PLM to 3D PDF automated solutions.
The announcement by Adobe and PROSTEP AG from September 2010 guarantees a smooth transition for existing LiveCycle customers from their current 3D PDF technology (called Adobe® LiveCycle® PDF Generator 3D) to the new PROSTEP 3D PDF technology, (called PROSTEP PDF Generator 3D).
The excitement surrounding this new 3D PDF technology, now supported by a growing number of world class independent software organizations, will be aggressively promoted as a new 3D ISO standard with Long Term Archival and Retrieval (LOTAR) capabilities, similar to the role that PDF plays today for viewing and archiving business data defined in text and 2D-based documentation. This new Adobe supported 3D PDF standard will make it possible to generate downstream, fully viewable and archivable 3D PDF engineering and manufacturing documents such as required for Model Based Definition, Manufacturing Work Instructions, 3D Bills of Material and RFQs to name a few. Additionally, the new PROSTEP 3D PDF technology provides direct integration capabilities for internal and cross-enterprise PLM/ERP processes and 3D design and process data transfer in a lightweight PDF document.
"Adobe has fully committed to continuing its support of the 3D PDF format within the Adobe Platform (announced by Adobe on May 24th, 2010), today and for decades to come. By combining the power of the 3D PDF format with the backing of strong ISVs like PROSTEP and Anark, the time is right for an independent, open, and publicly available 3D data format to transform the way 3D CAD data is repurposed in downstream work flows," said Stephen Collins CEO of Anark Corporation. "Leveraging the open 3D PDF format, Adobe's platform strength (including the Free Adobe Reader), and a growing and vibrant 3rd party software development network gives customers the freedom to purchase best-of-breed-software solutions instead of forcing the purchase of software solutions from a single CAD or PLM vendor," continued Stephen.
"PROSTEP is excited to be joining forces with Anark, the leading provider of 3D PDF authoring software. Anark and PROSTEP will be working together to enable fit-for-purpose 3D and 2D manufacturing documentation such as work instructions, technical data packages, and supplier requests for quotes, published from PROSTEP PDF Generator 3D. Additionally, PROSTEP will be able to take advantage of the unique "Anark Core Recipe" technology which assures that any changes to the original source of the 3D CAD or Manufacturing data will be automatically updated in the authored 3D and 2D PDF manufacturing documentation," said Peter Pfalzgraf Director of PROSTEP's 3D PDF business initiatives.
"Anark is excited to leverage PROSTEP's leading PDM interoperability software solution, OpenPDM. Anark Core products will greatly benefit from the native PDM components integrated in PDF Generator 3D for LiveCycle that PROSTEP has developed with their PLM partners such as Siemens, Dassault, and PTC. Almost overnight, Anark Core will inherit capabilities to transact with leading PDM systems such as ENOVIA, MatrixOne, Teamcenter®, Windchill®, and other popular PDM systems," said Scott Collins SVP of Product Development for Anark Corporation.
