What is the Anark Core Platform?

The Anark Core Platform is a robust software solution that quickly and easily transforms native 3D CAD data for use throughout manufacturing design, engineering, supply-chain, and support organizations. Unlike conventional CAD tools and translators, Anark Core enables users to automate the modification of 3D product structure and geometry, and export revised product data in various high-precision B-rep and lightweight mesh formats. The system creates "recipes" that can be applied automatically to revised product design data, saving countless hours of labor each time product designs are changed.

What is Anark Core Workstation?

Anark Core Workstation is a powerful, easy to use authoring tool created explicitly for individuals with no engineering or CAD experience to repurpose 3D CAD geometry for design review and collaboration, work instructions, model based definition, technical publications, visualization, simulation, CAE, and supply-chain-data-exchange applications.

What is Anark Core Server?

Anark Core Server is a vertically and horizontally scalable server software application for high-volume and repeated CAD data transformation requirements. Anark Core Server loads transformation recipes created in Anark Core Workstation and processes CAD files and other product, supplier, or manufacturing data on user-created schedules. In addition, Anark Core Server can be integrated with PDM, PLM, ERP, SCM, and MES systems, providing a powerful and flexible platform to automate the production of use-appropriate CAD data and downstream product information throughout the enterprise.

What is the difference between Anark Core Workstation and Anark Core Server?

Anark Core Server is a vertically and horizontally scalable server system that processes recipes created within Anark Core Workstation. Anark Core Server can be integrated with other enterprise servers such as PDM and ECM systems via SOA (service-oriented architecture) integration.

What can I do with Anark Core?

Leading manufacturing organizations have embraced the Anark Core Platform to provide individuals with no engineering or CAD experience an easy way to access, combine, and transform 3D CAD and manufacturing information into formats optimized for downstream use. Anark Core also overcomes CAD data interoperability challenges that prevent efficient workflow between suppliers and OEM’s, or between internal design, engineering, simulation, visualization, and support teams. Anark Core dramatically reduces tedious and repetitive CAD translation and preparation tasks by recording all connection, simplification, transformation, and publication tasks into a recipe that can be reapplied automatcially whenever design change occurs.

  • Easily connect to and combine data from PDM and PLM databases through a common, simple, user interface.
  • Convert 3D CAD data into multiple high-precision (B-rep) CAD and lightweight (mesh) formats or publish to a forms-based Adobe 3D PDF.
  • Heal product geometry including sliver faces, tolerance errors, and many other format-specific anomalies.

Can I create CAD models from scratch with Anark Core?

Anark Core allows users to transform existing CAD geometry created in popular CAD authoring tools, but it does not include a modeler.

Does Anark Core Workstation provide mark-up features?

Anark Core Workstation is not a mark-up environment, but you can use Anark Core to prepare mark-up-ready 3D PDF documents and visualization data for leading mark-up and design review applications such as Adobe® Reader and Autodesk® Design Review.

What are the system requirements for Anark Core Workstation?

System Requirements:

What kind of technical support is available for Anark Core?

What is a recipe?

A recipe is a human-readable XML file containing history of all the transformations performed within Anark Core Workstation. Recipes are generated automatically by Anark Core Workstation. Recipes can be re-used, modified, and can be scheduled to execute automatically by Anark Core Server.

What is "Recipe-Based Automation"?

Recipe-based automation is the ability to apply and re-apply recipes to CAD data, automatically re-binding actions onto product design data even after it has changed. This is a powerful capability because it can save countless hours of labor each time a CAD file is updated or revised.

Can I integrate Anark Core Server within my Product Data Management solution?

Anark Core Server was designed with a service-oriented architecture (SOA) and can be integrated with PDM servers or other enterprise systems using SOAP over HTTP/S to effect change-list-driven transformations of 3D CAD geometry for use throughout the enterprise.

Are there limitations on file size that I can import into Anark Core?

Most of the system is disk-limited, meaning that the system works with bite-sized portions of data at a time. When a CAD assembly is imported, Anark Core Workstation performs rigorous healing operations on the parts geometry that are saved within a project file. Project files typically load faster than the original CAD data without loss of precision.

Is my PMI preserved when I translate models between file formats?

Anark has developed an Adobe LiveCycle plug-in and an Acrobat plug-in which allows PMI data created in 3D CAD design applications to be preserved and displayed interactively within Adobe's free Reader and Acrobat applications. Anark is currently completing features within Anark Core to import and simplify PMI and MBD data, which will enable operators to selectively publish PMI data for each appropriate use case.

How does Anark Core help protect my intellectual property?

Anark Core enables users to quickly and easily remove sensitive product structure and geometry features from native CAD assemblies. These transformations are saved in a recipe that can be reapplied to design data before sharing with the supply chain.

What is "de-featuring" and why is it important?

De-featuring is a term used to describe the process of removing unnecessary detail from CAD models in preparation for use in other markup, design, simulation, visualization, or supply-chain-exchange applications. Anark Core allows users to remove holes, fillets, produce inner- and outer-mold lines while preserving the precision of the remaining geometry.

Once I de-feature a model, can I go back and remove the changes at a later time?

Yes. Transformations performed within Anark Core Workstation are fully non-destructive and can be edited or deleted at any time without affecting the original model. Because all CAD files are "Imported," rather than "Opened," into Anark Core the original file is never modified.

Once I transform my CAD data, can I modify it in another CAD application?

Yes--Anark Core produces extremely high-quality, single- and multi-body solids, as well as shell bodies when required. It also produces seamless, high-quality mesh data for lightweight geometry needs. It does not retain the feature history however, so while new features can be added to solid bodies, the feature history that led to the construction of the exported B-rep is not retained.

What is the precision of your B-rep geometry?

The linear and angular precision for the in-memory B-Rep representation within Anark Core is 1.0E-8 meters and 1.0E-11 radians respectively.
